Removal of Canvas Courses lasted for more than seven years


On Monday, 8 August 2022
  • Summer Term 2015 Canvas courses will be deleted from Canvas.


End of Summer Term 2022 - Arrangements for Summer Term Canvas courses


Zoom cloud recordings conducted during 11 May 2022 to 31 July 2022 will be removed by Computing Services Centre (CSC) after 4 September 2022. Please download Zoom cloud recordings as needed in advance. Instructions can be found here, under the heading "Downloading and sharing a cloud recording".



Starting Monday, 8 August 2022
  • User lists (students & teachers) in Summer Term 2022 Canvas courses will be frozen (i.e. no updates from AIMS).

If the course activities will be extended beyond Summer Term 2022, visit Settings of your Canvas course, select Participation: Course and specify a later date in End field.

Remember to click Update Course Details at the bottom.

Starting Sunday, 28 August 2022
  • Summer Term 2022 Canvas courses will be read-only unless a custom course end date is set. They can be seen under "Past Enrollments", by clicking "All Courses" under the "Courses" menu for all users.



Preparation of contents in Canvas courses

There are a few options to prepare contents in your Canvas courses.

  1. To reuse contents from your previous Canvas course, please make use of the "Import Content into this Course" in Settings page of your NEW Canvas course (Canvas instruction How do I copy content from another Canvas course using the Course Import tool?).
  2. Rebuild the Canvas courses by uploading contents from your computer. For details please view the 3-minute Canvas Video Demo at https://go.cityu.hk/plyov2

 

Synchronisation of scheduling data in AIMS with Canvas courses for Semester A 2022/23

Please note that the following automated processes will be applied on Canvas to facilitate teaching and learning:

Starting Monday, 8 August 2022
  • Create Canvas courses for Semester A 2022/23.
  • Add and update teacher users on Canvas courses based on data in the Master Class Schedule.
  • Populate and update Canvas courses with registered students according to records in AIMS.
  • Semester A 2022/23 courses are listed on the Dashboard, and under the "Courses" menu.

Starting Friday, 26 August 2022
  • Create and update sections within Semester A 2022/23 master Canvas courses according to section records in AIMS for the purposes of communication and grading.
