Ningde City in Fujian Province is the birthplace of China’s covered wooden arch bridges. According to available statistics, there are more than 110 surviving ancient covered wooden arch bridges nationwide, 55 of which are located in Ningde. The Luanfeng Bridge in Xiadang Village, Shouning County, Ningde, currently holds the record for the longest single-span bridge among all existing covered wooden arch bridges in China, with the central span measuring 37.6 meters. It is listed as a national key cultural relic protection unit.
In addition to text and images, this exhibition will present digital virtual tour and mixed reality (MR) reconstructions of the Luanfeng Bridge, as well as physical 3D-printed models illustrating the wooden arch structure. Furthermore, inheritors of this craft will assemble a two-metre, true-to-scale model of the Baixiang Bridge on-site, allowing visitors to closely appreciate the brilliance of this traditional craft.
