The course engages research degree students in seminars, including student research presentations and journal paper presentations, to enrich their understanding of research topics in social and behavioural sciences. Through presentations, immediate feedback, discussion, and deliberate review, students develop their ability to formulate and discuss research ideas, critically evaluate scholarly work, and present findings systematically. Supervisors, the Course Leader, and other faculty members participate in the seminars to enrich discussion and support students’ scholarly development.

Note: For student research presentations, students must present their own research at least twice during their period of study: the first presentation should be completed before submission of the qualifying report, and the second before submission of the thesis. For journal paper presentations, research students must present at least once and attend at least three Journal Club activities during their first year of study, effective from the 2024-25 cohort and thereafter.
