Course Aims | ||||||||
Global Practicum offers an immersive, handson international experience in public health as part of the Master of Public Health (MPH) programme. This 9-credit course enables students to translate classroom theory into practice by partnering with healthcare providers, non-governmental organisations, research institutions, and public health agencies around the world. Placements are available across Africa, Asia, Europe, and other regions, giving students the chance to contribute to diverse, context-specific public health initiatives. Under the mentorship of experienced global health professionals, students will work on projects tailored to local needs and organisational priorities. Assignments may include cross-cultural community engagement, data collection and analysis, programme design and evaluation, international policy development, health systems strengthening, and culturally appropriate health promotion. Projects will emphasize ethical practice, equity, and sustainable impact in low-, middle-, and high-income settings. Through fieldwork and reflective learning, students will deepen their understanding of global health challenges, enhance practical competencies in applied public health, and develop intercultural communication and professional skills necessary for effective collaboration in international health contexts. The Global Practicum prepares graduates to contribute thoughtfully and responsively to public health practice across a range of global settings. | ||||||||
