Course Aims

The course aims to examine and compare the contexts and settings that frame governance and public management in the Chinese mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and/or Macao. We explore the governance and public management principles that underpin the respective public sectors in the Chinese mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and/or Macao and critically assess their respective strengths and weaknesses. Students are expected to learn about the political and administrative challenges facing governance in the Greater China Region in this course. Through a range of learning activities - including lectures, real-life cases studies, group discussions and presentations - students will be able to apply their knowledge to critically discuss and analyse governance issues and challenges in the Greater China Region.
