In Conversation with Dr Hon Starry Lee Wai-King, GBS, JP: Exploring the 15th Five-Year Plan and New Opportunities for Hong Kong
On 2 June, 2026, the CityUHK Eminence Society hosted a dinner talk titled “The 15th Five-Year Plan and New Opportunities for Hong Kong (十五五規劃與香港新機遇)”.
At the invitation of Dr Allen Shi Lop-Tak, Chairman of the CityUHK Eminence Society (ES), Dr Hon Starry Lee Wai-King, GBS, JP, Member of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress and President of the Legislative Council of the HKSAR, delivered an enriching talk.
Dr Lee shared her perspectives on how Hong Kong can position itself within the broader national development landscape. She highlighted the importance of aligning the city’s unique strengths with national priorities, and elaborated on the linkage between Hong Kong’s first Five-Year Plan and the forthcoming national “15th Five-Year Plan”, offering forward-looking insights into emerging opportunities and future directions.
The session then moved into an interactive segment, during which participants engaged actively with the speaker. A range of thoughtful questions prompted a lively and substantive exchange of views. Many attendees remarked that the discussion enhanced their understanding of Hong Kong’s evolving role and opportunities ahead.
The evening concluded with a networking dinner, where guests continued their conversations and exchanged ideas in a relaxed setting, further strengthening connections among CityUHK community members and their knowledge about mission and future development of the CityUHK Eminence Society.
