Counselling Graduates Association Professional Talk: Path to Counselling

The CityU Counselling Graduates Association (CGA) organised an insightful professional talk titled "Path to Counselling" on 8 December 2023, with around 60 MSocSc Counselling alumni and students in attendance. Professor Matthew Manning, Head of the Department of Social and Behavioural Sciences, delivered an opening message to all participants, providing updates on the department's latest developments.

The talk featured 4 MSocSc Counselling graduates: Mr Johnathan Chau, Ms Karriann Chu, Ms Happy Hui and Ms Josie Song. They generously shared their personal journeys and experiences of becoming counsellors. Following their presentations, all participants were divided into four groups, with each speaker hosting a group sharing session. This arrangement allowed for meaningful interactions and provided ample opportunities for participants to engage with different perspectives. The groups then rotated, enabling all attendees to benefit from a diverse range of insights and experiences.

For the student participants, the event proved to be an invaluable learning opportunity. They gained practical tips and advice that would guide them on their own paths towards a career in counselling. The professional talk facilitated knowledge exchange and fostered a supportive community among current and aspiring counselling graduates.
