CityUHK Eminence Society Inaugurates 8th Executive Committee cum Appreciation Dinner Pledging to Build the Future Through Heritage and Gratitude
City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) Eminence Society, a distinguished and senior alumni organisation, hosted the Inauguration Ceremony of the 8th Executive Committee cum Appreciation Dinner on 6 February. The event brought together over 300 society leaders, University representatives, honorary chairmen and Executive Committee members, alumni, to celebrate CityUHK’s latest achievements and witness the unity of alumni community in support of their alma mater.
The evening began with a dynamic student dance performance, embodying CityUHK’s spirit of "Innovating into the Future". In a symbolic moment, Professor Freddy Boey, President and University Distinguished Professor of CityUHK and Dr Raymond Leung Siu-hong, the 7th Chairman of the CityUHK Eminence Society, passed the seal representing responsibility and legacy, to the new Chairman, Dr Allen Shi Lop-tak.
Professor the Hon Michael Ngai, Council Chairman of CityUHK, thanked the Eminence Society for its years of dedication to foster communication and encouraged the new committee to continue promoting alumni engagement and deepening connections with the University and the wider community.
“The Eminence Society is a very important alumni organisation that consistently contributes experience and an innovative spirit to the University, uniting the strength of our alumni,” he added. He also expressed his confidence that under the leadership of Dr Shi, the Eminence Society would continue to flourish and reach new heights.
President Boey shared the University's latest developments and expressed heartfelt thanks for the selfless dedication of the 7th Executive Committee. He noted that the University looks forward to the Eminence Society further expanding its alumni network and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, especially in leveraging alumni expertise in technological innovation and university development.
Reflecting on his tenure, Dr Leung extended his gratitude to the 7th Executive Committee and all members for their unwavering dedication, as well as to the University's management for their guidance and support.
In his inaugural speech, Dr Shi thanked CityUHK and acknowledged the solid foundation laid by his predecessors and outlined three key strategic directions for the future: fostering communication, increasing local and Chinese Mainland activities, and organising overseas delegations, which making the Eminence Society a vital platform for enhancing alumni’s competitiveness.
The event was organised by the Eminence Society, title-sponsored by JP Morgan Private Bank, with sponsorships for table and prizes from CityUHK stakeholders and external supporters.
