CityUHK Convocation Celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival with the Elderly

On 4 October 2025, a dedicated team of CityUHK alumni volunteers, led by Vice- Chairman of CityUHK Convocation, Mr Gabriel Ho Kai-pong, visited the Yang Memorial Methodist Social Service in Sham Shui Po for a pre-Mid-Autumn Festival celebration with the elderly.

The CityUHK alumni volunteers brought a cheerful, festive atmosphere through a series of engaging activities. They connected with the elders through heartfelt conversations, collaborative handicraft sessions, and a fun towel exercise. One of the event highlights was making the “Herbal Dried Asiatic Wormwood Massage Hammer (艾草按摩槌)”. Asiatic Wormwood (艾草), a herb long used in Traditional Chinese Medicine, sparked fond memories among the elderly. Elders actively shared with the volunteers about their stories of using “Asiatic Wormwood” in the past.

On behalf of the CityUHK Convocation, the Chairman, Mr William Khoo Wun-fat, presented gifts to the elderly, sharing joy with the elderly for the Mid-Autumn Festival.

“Thank you to all CityUHK alumni volunteers for taking the time to visit us. I am truly happy to have met all of you!” an elder told a volunteer during the activity.
