Prof. YUEN Kwok Kit Richard 袁國傑教授
Chair Professor
professor 13

Ir Prof Yuen obtained his first degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Hong Kong and PhD from the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, University of New South Wales, Australia. He was the Head of the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering, City University of Hong Kong. He is a Registered Professional Engineer and members of the IFE (UK), SFPE (USA) and HKIE (HK). His research interests include fire safety and engineering, pyrolysis and combustion, applications of computational fluid dynamics (CFD), fire retardant materials, neural network modelling applications in fire engineering, HVAC and control engineering. He is the Co-PI of the Theme-based Research Scheme project entitled 'Safety, Reliability, and Disruption Management of High Speed Rail and Metro Systems' with over HKD40 millions funded by the Research Grants Council of the HK. Prof Yuen has over 250 publications including international journal articles and conference papers and co-authored the book entitled: 'Computational Fluid Dynamics in Fire Engineering - Theory, Modeling & Practice'. Prof Yuen had successfully supervised more than 30 PhD graduate students and is supervising more than 10 PhD graduate students currently as the main supervisor. He has also been the examiner of many PhD candidates both locally and internationally. He has been engaged in research consultancies and he is also the Founding Member of the Disciplinary Advisory Panel of Fire Discipline of HKIE. He has served as members of Examination Board for Lift and Escalator Engineers of the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department and Inspector Registration Committee of the Buildings Department, the HKSAR Government respectively. He is also currently the Council member and Deputy Chairman of Quality Assurance Committee (QAC) of the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ). Prof Yuen received The President's Award of City University of Hong Kong in 2016.
