Dr. Yuchen Song recently commenced as an Assistant Professor at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK). His research focuses on applying high-performance metallic materials—including additively manufactured metals, stainless steels, and shape memory alloys—to enhance the sustainability and resilience of engineering structures. He has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles in leading international journals and, as a principal investigator, has secured competitive research grants totalling over HKD 4.9 million. His research excellence has been recognised through multiple awards, including the Best Steel Structures Paper Award at the ASCCS 2024 Conference. Dr. Song serves as a Guest Editor of Steel and Composite Structures and has co-organised and chaired five special sessions at leading international conferences in structural engineering. He received his PhD from the University of Sydney. Prior to joining CityUHK, he was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at Imperial College London and a Postdoctoral Fellow at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University under the RGC Junior Research Fellow Scheme.
