Prof KWOK Chung Yee Fiona joins ACE as Assistant Professor

We are thrilled to welcome Prof. Kwok Chung Yee Fiona as our new Assistant Professor in ACE!

Professor Kwok earned her PhD in Engineering from the University of Cambridge, an MEng from MIT, and a first-class BEng from the University of Sheffield. Before joining CityUHK, she was an Assistant Professor at the University of Hong Kong. Her professional background also includes roles as a Geotechnical Engineer with Itasca Consulting Group in Minneapolis and CDM in Los Angeles. Her research focuses on landslide hazard prediction and mitigation, sustainable geo-materials, and energy geotechnics related to oil and gas extraction and carbon sequestration. Dr. Kwok was recognized as a Future Leader by the American Rock Mechanics Association (ARMA). She was also awarded the Faculty of Engineering Best Teacher Award for 2022-23. She currently serves on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences, as well as the Managing Editor of Natural Hazards. She also contributes to several professional bodies, including as a panel member of the Research Projects Vetting Subcommittee of Environmental Conservation Fund (ECF), a committee member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) Civil Division and a nominated member of technical committee TC307 Sustainability in Geotechnical Engineering of International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE).
