Congratulations to Dr. TALAMINI Gianni for awarding the General Research Fund (GRF) 2022-2023 with his project entitled "Symbiotic Urbanism for a Horizontal Metropolis".

The Horizontal Metropolis is a form of dwelling emerging at the interlink of urban infrastructures and bioregional ecologies, blurring canonical distinctions between the city and the countryside, and a research-by-design protocol, providing a framework for achieving environmental stewardship, place attachment and a sense of belonging.

This research will catalyse an international scholarly debate on the Horizontal Metropolis, testing its application in Hong Kong’s New Territories and explicitly addressing the “Northern Metropolis” blueprint.
