Technological change is accelerating at an unprecedented rate, and the world is changing rapidly. Digital technologies have been applied in architecture and engineering to improve design efficiency, promote coordination and collaboration among project participants, and enhance the buildability of construction. One example of such technological advancement in the built environment is Building Information Modelling (BIM). BIM is an emerging technology that presents enormous research opportunities in smart city development, especially when combined with other digital technologies such as virtual reality, geographic information system, and blockchain.
