Prof Zuankai Wang and Dr Yajing Shen’s team has developed a novel tiny, soft robot with caterpillar-like legs capable of carrying heavy loads and adaptable to adverse environments. The mini delivery-robot could pave the way for medical technology advances, such as drug delivery in the human body. (Read more)

Ms. LEUNG Yin Ming, Year 2 student from the Bioengineering major, was selected as a recipient of the Innovation and Technology Scholarship Award Scheme 2018. Dr. Zuankai Wang was presented the CityU Outstanding Research Award 2017 during the University Congregation on 11 November 2017. The Selection Panel identifies outstanding researchers whose work has had a significant impact on industrial, economic and social development in Hong Kong and beyond. The results of the General Research Fund (GRF)/Early Career Scheme (ECS) 2017-18 have been released. The MBE department has a total of 16 successful applications, occupying 15.6% of the total amount of grants received by the College of Science and Engineering, and 10.5% among all academic units in CityU. A success rate of 53.3% has been achieved this year, which is much higher than the overall institutional averages and the majority in the Engineering panel. (View the list of successful projects)

Prof. Jian Lu’s research team has recently published their work on the first-ever supra-nano magnesium alloy which is 10 times stronger than conventional crystalline magnesium alloy and has super-deformation capacity two times higher than that of magnesium-based metallic glass in the prestigious journal Nature. Prof. Jian Lu was presented the Légion d’Honneur by the French government, which is the highest national order led by the President of France who services as grand master of the order, for his research excellence and for promoting education and research between France, Hong Kong and China.
