Moriaki Yasuhara is a professor in the School of Energy and Environment and the State Key Laboratory of Marine Environmental Health, City University of Hong Kong. He has broad interests in marine paleobiology, palaeoecology, macroevolution, biogeography. and macroecology. His recent research has focused on the spatio-temporal dynamics of large-scale ecological and evolutionary patterns, the impact of climate on biodiversity and ecosystems, and the controlling factor(s) of biotic patterns/changes in shallow-marine, deep sea and pelagic ecosystems. He is also interested in human-induced marine ecosystem degradation and paleontology of ostracods in general.
