Prof. Michael Leung is Chair Professor of Renewable Energy, Shun Hing Education and Charity Fund Professor of Energy and Environment, and Director of the Ability R&D Energy Research Centre (AERC) in the School of Energy and Environment (SEE) at the City University of Hong Kong. He previously served as Associate Provost (Academic Affairs) (2022–2024) and Associate Dean of SEE (2012–2018).
Prof. Leung is Editor-in-Chief of Solar Compass (Elsevier). He also served as Editor-in-Chief of HKIE Transactions (2021–2026). He is a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE). He currently serves as Chairman of the HKIE Energy Discipline Advisory Panel and previously served on the Chairman of HKIE Education and Examinations Committee (2016–2019). He is a Past Chairman of the Energy Institute (Hong Kong Branch) (2008–2010). Internationally, he served as Secretary of the Board of Directors of the International Solar Energy Society (ISES) (2024–2026) and as the China Representative on the ISES Board of Directors (2022–2026). He is presently a Member of Advisory Committee on Water Supplies and previously was a Member of the Energy Advisory Committee (2010–2016), giving advises to the Hong Kong Government.
Research
Prof. Leung’s research interests include solar photocatalysis, green hydrogen, fuel cell, and advanced refrigeration and air-conditioning. He is listed among the World’s Top 2% Most-Cited Scientists (Stanford University metrics) and as the Most Cited Scholar in Energy Science and Engineering (ShanghaiRanking Consultancy in collaboration with Elsevier).
He has secured over HK$67 million in research funding as Principal Investigator, from ITF, GRF, NSFC, ECF, and SDF, as well as contract research, consultancy, industrial sponsorships, internal university grants, and donations. He has published over 270 journal articles, 18 books/book chapters, and holds 10 granted patents.

Requirements
Degree holder in relevant science or engineering fields: Ph.D. degree for Post-doctoral Fellow; Bachelor's or Master's degree for Senior Research Assistant / Research Assistant. Candidates with experience in theoretical modeling or experimental study are preferred.

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
