SEE Student Chapter BBQ Night 2026: A Memorable Night of Community and Celebration

The School of Energy and Environment (SEE) Student Chapter 2025/26 successfully hosted its annual Barbecue Night on 28 March 2026 at Lung Kwu Tan, Tuen Mun. The event was a resounding success, bringing together a vibrant crowd of more than 100 participants, including faculty, staff, research staff, undergraduate and postgraduate students, and alumni.

The evening was highlighted by the enthusiastic participation of the Dean and numerous faculty members, fostering a close-knit community spirit. Prof. Benjamin Horton, Dean of SEE, opened the gathering with welcoming remarks and shared inspiring words with the attendees. In addition, the night served as a special platform to celebrate recent faculty promotions, recognizing the continued growth and excellence of the school’s academic leadership. Prof. Edwin Tso, Associate Dean (Internationalization & Outreach), Prof. Angus Yip, and Prof. Fatwa Abdi, were celebrated for their promotions, shared their insights during the dining session.

The climax of the night was undoubtedly the highly anticipated Lucky Draw, which captured the excitement of every participant. This thrilling segment was made possible by the generous contributions of a dedicated group of donors, including: Prof. Benjamin Horton, Prof. Edwin Tso, Prof. Patrick Lee, Prof. Chunhua Liu, Prof. Charles Chunbao Xu, Prof. Angus Yip, Prof. Zhiguo Yuan AM, Prof. Carol Lin, Prof. Wu Wei, Prof. Fatwa Abdi, Prof. Ping Han, Prof. Henry He, Prof. Jason Lam, Prof. WanXin Li, Prof. Patrick Sit, Prof. Chu Jung Eun, Prof. Sai Ravi, Prof. Xuneng Tong, Prof. Wang Xue, Prof. Kaixin Lin, Dr. Martin Zhu, Mr. Simon Lim, and Miss Chung Hiu Ching.

A particularly heartwarming highlight of the night was a surprise birthday celebration for all the " Birthday Stars in March" in attendance, adding a joyous touch to the evening. This was followed by a series of live performances that showcased the diverse talents within the SEE community. Student performers took to the stage to deliver a variety of popular hits and soulful melodies, filling the night air with energy and drawing cheers from the audience.


The success of the evening was a testament to the hard work and meticulous planning of the SEE Student Chapter committee and staff, their efforts ensured a seamless and enjoyable experience for all, making the BBQ Night 2026 a truly unforgettable celebration of community. SEE looks forward to further strengthening these bonds and creating more wonderful memories together in the future.
