SEE Researchers Showcase Sustainable Innovations at the "Science in the Public Service" Science and Technology Fair

City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) showcased its sustainable innovations at the 20th Anniversary Science and Technology Fair of the "Science in the Public Service" campaign, held from 25 to 27 September 2026 at the Hong Kong Science Museum. Prof. Shauhrat S. Chopra, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Studies) and Associate Professor at the School of Energy and Environment (SEE), participated as an officiating guest at the official kick-off ceremony.

Representing SEE, Prof. Edwin C. Y. Tso, Associate Dean (Internationalisation and Outreach) and Chair Professor of Energy and Sustainability, alongside Prof. Jin Shang, Professor, presented cutting-edge translational research focused on zero-carbon and sustainable technologies:
- Passive Radiative Cooling: Developed by Prof. Edwin C. Y. Tso, this electricity-free cooling technology reduces energy demands for buildings and communities, and has been successfully commercialized through the HK Tech 300 start-up i2Cool.

- Portable Inhaled Nitric Oxide Generation: Developed through a CityUHK–HKUST collaboration with Prof. Jin Shang serving as the CityUHK Principal Investigator, this award-winning handheld system generates therapeutic nitric oxide on demand without bulky gas cylinders.

Through its active participation in this milestone campaign, the School of Energy and Environment at CityUHK reaffirms its dedication to advancing translational research, fostering public science education, and driving sustainable innovations that create lasting, positive impacts for the community and a greener future.
