Abstract

Water-soluble organic matter accounted for an important part of the atmospheric fine particles and might have great potential impact on the formation of haze. Though many researches have been conducted in the last decades, our knowledge on the chemical composition of the water-soluble organics is still very limited. In this talk, the concentrations, seasonal variations and sources of the water-soluble organics in PM2.5 in Shanghai will be discussed, based on the results from multiple analytical methods including GC-MS analysis, radiocarbon analysis etc.

About the Speaker

Prof. Jialiang Feng received his bachelor degree in geochemistry from University of Science and Technology of China in 1988, master degree in organic geochemistry from Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry in 1991, and PhD in chemical engineering from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2006. He is now a professor in the School of Environmental and Chemical Engineering of Shanghai University, China. He has over 70 publications on characterization and source identification of aerosols, specializing in offline analysis of the chemical composition of organic aerosols.
