Two faculty members from the School of Energy and Environment (SEE), City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), have successfully secured funding under the Environment and Conservation Fund (ECF) 2025–2026 of the HKSAR Government, marking another milestone in the School’s commitment to advancing environmental research and innovation.

The ECF provides sustained support for projects related to environmental protection and nature conservation in Hong Kong, encouraging innovative solutions and technologies that promote sustainable development.

Prof. Xuneng Tong will lead a project on AI-Driven Forecasting of Hong Kong Coastal Water Quality Using High-Frequency Buoy Observations, supported by funding of HK$584K. This project will leverage real-time buoy data and machine learning to generate timely water quality forecasts, with clear applications for local marine management.

Prof. Henry He will conduct research on Toxicity Assessment and Risk Modelling of E-Waste Pollutants – Liquid Crystal Monomers on Chinese White Dolphin Using Tissue-Specific Cell Lines, supported by funding of HK$450K. This study will provide critical insights into marine conservation and pollutant management.

These achievements demonstrate SEE’s strong commitment to impactful research and its leadership in promoting environmental protection and sustainability in Hong Kong. Congratulations to Prof. Tong and Prof. He on their success.
