SEE Hosted National Ecology Day 2025 cum Tech Talk on Climate Change and Extreme Weather

The School of Energy and Environment (SEE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), in collaboration with the Hong Kong Climate Change Forum (HKCCF), successfully hosted the National Ecology Day 2025 cum SEE Tech Talk on 23 August 2025. Organized by SEE at the invitation of the Environment and Ecology Bureau of the HKSAR Government, the event was recognised as one of the official activities of National Ecology Day 2025.
Held at CityUHK, the Tech Talk brought together leading climate scientists and members of the public to explore pressing environmental challenges and emerging research. The morning began with welcoming remarks by Prof. Benjamin Horton, Dean of SEE and Chair Professor of Earth Science, followed by opening remarks from Prof. Johnny Chan, Chairman of the Hong Kong Climate Change Forum (HKCCF) and Emeritus Professor at SEE.

The event featured three expert-led sessions that addressed critical issues in climate science:
- “Climate Change – Hong Kong’s 60-Year Challenge” Presented by Prof. Benjamin Horton
- “Impact of Climate Change on Extreme Weather Events” Presented by Prof. Jung-Eun Chu, Assistant Professor at SEE.
- “Carbonaceous Aerosols: The Major Climate Warming Particle” Presented by Prof. Xuan Wang, Assistant Professor at SEE

The Tech Talk concluded with a lively discussion and networking session, fostering dialogue between researchers, students, and members of the public.
