Living in Hall 7 during the previous year is colorful and unforgettable. Time goes so fast that I don’t realize that I have become a senior to talk about my hall experience. Many moments recalled that one year before, I was just a freshman in Jockey Club Harmony Hall. Everything is new to me, the new floor, the new roommates and the new environment. While I was thinking that it would be hard for me to fit in the new environment, something happened and gave me a warm welcome. The first day I came in Hall 7, I was sorting my five boxes of luggage, the big work and new atmosphere made me tired, irritable and a little lonely. Suddenly, somebody knocked on my door. It was my floormates and they came to greet me. They asked if I need my help. Knowing that I was sorting, they gave me a bottle of drink and invited me to join their video game party when I finished. Although we are just new acquaintance, they treated me as a close friend.

My hall life is full of these kinds of instants. They give me the feeling of staying in a big family. And I feel myself become a member of this big family gradually. As a part of the family, I want to do something to redound. Then I joined the Non-local Residence Board and became the president of this organization. Aiming to enrich hall life of residents by organizing activities.

At the beginning of semester B, we held a welcome meal as our first activity. It’s a hot pot buffet gathering meal in Mong Kok which we hope to use this opportunity to give the new residents a warm welcome. Then it comes the second event, the Hall Photo-taking. One-month’s preparation, from site booking to seat arranging, e-mail sending to door knocking. We hope to capture the moment of all residents gathering, using the group photo to provide them a gift, record the memory of their staying in Hall 7. But things didn’t go smooth. During these two events, some problems came. And we find that the planning and organizing need better prepared. Our team is young and needs self-examination and improvement.

After the introspection, our third and the last event came, the Tram Party. It’s a party holds in the Ding Ding tram while it runs in the track on the Hong Kong Island. This event aims to let the non-local students have the taste of this traditional Hong Kong vehicles and get involved in the culture as tram moves in the historical Hong Kong track. We recalled the fault we made. From booking to site visiting, we separated them one by one and kept up with every step. Hearing the resident’s suggestion and made some adjustments to the party flow. That month was a hard time, but when we eventually made it. Watching the smiling and contented faces of the participants, I realized that all the efforts pay off.

Living in Hall 7 for one year is memorable, I learned, improved and grow up.
