I have always dreamed of living in an apartment with all of my best friends since I was a child. The past two year living in Alumni Civility Hall was like a dream came true, and I was gifted with a second home and new family all in a sudden.

When I first moved in, I was overwhelmed by the entirely new environment. I had no idea on how to do the laundry, how to get network connection, how to get around the campus, basically everything. It was the Residence Association members of the time who warmly welcomed me and guided me to blend in with the environment. They hosted numerous activities, such as orientation camp and dessert night, for us to meet our fellow hallmates. There is so much diversity in the halls that you can always find your new best friends no matter what type of person you are. I met a bunch of friendliest people and we spent all the time together, we cooked, studied and played in the hall together. We had a genuinely good time and we felt like we should find a way to contribute to this loving environment. Finally, we decided that we should be someone like the RA members who helped us to enjoy the precious hall life. After a series of preparation, we became the next RA and tried our best to help others to find the happiness of hall life like we did.

Being a part of the Residence Association made me grow and gave me beautiful memories. Just as the motto of Alumni Civility Hall, we tried our best to let every residents to be “happy and free”. Throughout the year, my RA fellows and I organised various activities for the residents, such as the Poon Choi Feast and High Table Dinner for the residents to mingle. We met residents from all nationalities, and we shared about our cultures and experiences. These are unforgettable and joyful moments for all of the participants and also extraordinary experience for us, the RA. In the course of preparing and holding activities, we spent days and nights drafting proposals, communicating with suppliers, preparing promotional materials and more. These not only equipped us with technical knowledge and experiences but also taught us how to work together as a team. We are like neighbors, friends and family, thanks to Alumni Civility Hall for gathering us together.

The two years I have lived in Alumni Civility Hall is truly the highlight of my university life and no words can describe my gratitude for this place and the people inside. I sincerely hope every residents can get the most out of your hall life and contribute to the lovely place wholeheartedly.
