Alumni Civility Hall (Hall 3) Jump Scholarships

Mr. Chen Po Hsun

BBA in Business Analysis, Year 3

Chen Po Hsun

Since coming into the Alumni Civility Hall (Hall 3) in year 1, I was determined to enrich my hall life. As an active person, I love to engage myself into different sports and that is exactly what Hall 3 offered me. In year 1, I was selected to represent my hall on the swimming and basketball team, my two favourite sports. It proved to be a wonderful opportunity to know the people in your own hall who shared similar interests as you. The Hall’s spirit and support was also amazing, cheering for us as we went to war with the other halls. It left me with a remarkable experience that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

However, it wasn’t until year 2 when I fully engaged myself into the Hall. Competition for returning was very pressuring. To ensure a returning offer, I participated in all of the hall activities I could have possibly had. I had the experience to act as a soccer team manager, singer and organizer of an activity, all of which I have never done before in my life. Both outdoor (hiking, sports training etc.) and indoor activities (hotpot, mah-jong etc.) were involved as they really allowed to have a much better understanding of the Hong Kong culture. Participation in different workshops also allowed me to meet great people and learn new skills. Gradually, participating in hall activities became an entertainment rather than a mandatory process to receiving a returning offer.

Living in resident’s hall is much like living in a big family. People are not only within a reachable distance, but their kindness and care round up a fruitful college life. I firmly believe living here and being allocated to Hall 3 is one of the biggest privileges of my life.
