Matcha Making Camp
The vibrant green of matcha brought a peaceful close to the semester in Hall 6's common room last Thursday evening. Residents gathered for the final Resident-Led Activity: a Matcha Making Workshop that filled the space with quiet focus and warm conversation.
The workshop introduced participants to the centuries-old tradition of Japanese matcha preparation. Under guidance from the organizers, residents learned the proper technique for whisking the fine green powder into a smooth, frothy beverage. The careful, rhythmic motions of the bamboo whisks created a calming atmosphere, offering a perfect moment of mindfulness amid the busy end-of-semester rush.
Beyond learning the preparation method, the session became a space for residents to connect over shared cups of freshly made matcha. The workshop successfully combined cultural learning with a much-needed opportunity to relax and unwind before the holiday break.
As the last Resident-Led Activity of the semester, the Matcha Making Workshop provided a fitting conclusion to Hall 6's autumn festivities—leaving participants with new skills, peaceful memories, and a delicious taste of Japanese tradition.

DIY Workshop
For this month’s DIY event, we decided to explore some classic artworks together. To make it friendly for every resident, even those with no experience, we chose a 3D painting-coloring project based on great masterpieces. As always, our session came with soft background music. Everyone focused on their own piece at times, and at other times we chatted about MBTI, zodiac signs, or our research. Such a relaxed and cheerful throughout. I believe this is the essence of our DIY workshops: to set aside everyday pressure for a moment and enjoy the simple joy of creating something with our own hands.

Central Asian Night
This month, we had a great Central Asian night event conducted by our Kazakh and Kyrgyz community students. We dived into rich cultures of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, becoming familiar with a lot of beautiful and unique cultures and nature of Central Asia. We tasted qurt, the dried cheese that is a staple of the nomadic steppe. Additionally, we enjoyed plov, a savory dish consisting of rice and meat. There were Kazakh and Kyrgyz ornaments and decorations everywhere, as well as traditional costumes, which was surprising given such unique cultures. The highlight of the event was learning togyz qumalak, the ancient nine pebbles board strategic game. It was an evening of warm and beautiful connection to the traditions of the Silk Road.
