Hall 1
Induction Night

On September 10th, Hall 1 welcomed new and returning residents at our annual induction event. The hall master, Dr. Ben, delivered a warm opening speech to kick-start the upcoming residential year. In addition to informative sessions, the night featured energetic dance performances by residents, ice-breaking games, and exciting lucky draws. The atmosphere was particularly lively during musical chairs and the teamwork balloon relay game. The event concluded on a friendly note as we gathered to share a meal.

Special Hall Night Talk

The "Special Hall 2025/26 Night Talk Series (No.1)" is an academic event held at CityU HSBC Prosperity Hall (Hall 2) on September 16, 2025. The session is titled "Unlock the Power of AI with Prompt Engineering" and will be delivered in English by Professor Li Haoliang from City University of Hong Kong. Prof. Li is known for his significant contributions to AI research and has received various international awards.
The event is scheduled from 21:00 to 22:00 at MFH C and is designed to introduce attendees to the concept of prompt engineering in artificial intelligence. The session is open for students and staff who are interested in learning about recent developments in AI. For further details, participants can contact the organizers via email.

Welcome Party

On September 17, Hall 3 launched the new academic year with a vibrant welcome party. Residents were greeted by dazzling lights and lively energy as they joined fast-paced icebreaker games and shared laughter. A highlight of the night was a soulful performance by resident Chara, who captivated the crowd with Khalil Fong’s Listen. The evening wrapped up with a thrilling lucky draw and a strong sense of community—setting the tone for an exciting year ahead.

Tug Of War

This year Tug-of-War was launched on Monday, 30th September. With the full preparation by JCAC’s team representatives, our team achieved remarkable success! The women's team brought home the championship title, and the men's team secured a second runner-up. In the competition, our team showed our collective spirit and proved our teamwork determination. The success signalled a great start for this semester. JACA’s academians will continue to show our team spirit in the future.

Guide Runner for Visually Impaired🏃

This September, residents participated in a collaborative training session with Blind Sports Hong Kong, a leading organization empowering visually impaired athletes. Through expert coaching, the group learned essential techniques for guiding blind individuals, followed by a practical session where partners practiced navigation using blindfolds. It was a profound experience that fostered greater empathy, built communication skills, and strengthened our hall community through a shared commitment to inclusion.

Hall 6
Welcome Night

Lee Shau Kee Hall 6 kicked off the academic year with a lively Welcome Night filled with pizza, games, and community bonding. Residents, tutors, and the Residence Master came together to share laughs, learn hall rules, and celebrate the start of a new year in a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Hall 7
Gym Workshop: 9 September 2025

To support residents in maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle, we held a gym workshop on 9 September 2025. The session introduced the rules of the Hall 7 gym and demonstrated the safe and correct ways of using the equipment. Over 40 participants joined, eager to gain confidence with the machines before getting their gym access cards. Many residents also asked detailed questions about proper form and techniques, showing great enthusiasm to learn. The workshop not only equipped residents with practical skills but also encouraged them to use the hall’s facilities as part of their daily routine.

Hall 8 & JCH
Sep 13, DIY Workshop

The DIY workshop on tufting embroidery was a cozy and creative evening for our Hall 8 and JCH residents. With colorful wool and embroidery tools prepared, participants followed the step-by-step guidance to design their own unique pieces. Everyone enjoyed chatting, laughing, and sharing ideas while working on the crafts. The room was filled with creativity, patience, and joy. Many residents proudly took home their very first handmade embroidery artwork!

Scavenger Hunt

Hall 9 just had one of their first events, Scavenger Hunt, which was a huge success! Teams raced around campus, solving witty clues that took them from the steps of the library to the canteen's secret areas. Laughter and hurried planning flooded the air, transforming neighbours into friends and strangers into teammates. More than just a game, it was an incredible opportunity to strengthen bonds and unite the hall 9 community. Following an exciting race, one team won, and their applause reverberated as they accepted the ultimate prize, which is an amazing pair of speakers! Thank you to everyone who helped make it a memorable evening, and congratulations to the winners.

The O-Day

The O-day:
The games planned by the RTs were a total hit, helping the residents bond with each other!
From icebreakers to group challenges, the laughter and cheers never stopped, and we all felt like friends in no time! The info session by Prof. Wing Chung and RTs was super practical, giving freshers tips on living with roommates, dorm rules, and handy advice to settle in quickly.

Hall 11 kicked off the academic year with a vibrant Welcome Night, bringing together residents, Residence Tutors, and the Residence Master, Prof. Chris Shen. Known for its inclusive and student-led culture, Hall 11 celebrated the start of the year with engaging activities, casual conversations, and a warm community spirit. The event reflected the hall’s values of openness, mutual respect, and active participation—setting the tone for a meaningful and connected residential experience.
