Hall Rules of HSBC Prosperity Hall (Hall 2)
HSBC Prosperity Hall is a place for studying and making friends.
To ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all residents, we invite your cooperation in observing the "Regulations Governing Student Residence" and the "Code of Student Conduct and Disciplinary Procedure" of City University of Hong Kong. We would also like to draw special attention to the following rules and regulations:
- Guests:
- Visiting hours are from 8:00am to 11:00pm. Non-HSBC Prosperity Hall residents are NOT ALLOWED to stay overnight in the hostel.
- Lending or borrowing of resident identity cards to others in order to gain access to the Hall is strictly prohibited.
- Residents are held responsible for the acts and behaviours of their visitors. Please remind your visitors of the rules and regulations of our Hall.
- It is the responsibility of residents to advise their visitors that they MUST register and check in at the security kiosk when they enter and leave the Hall before 11:00 pm. All visitors MUST de-register when they leave. The Hall management reserves the right to conduct room checks of residents, without notice, whose visitors fail to follow this requirement.
- Cooking:
- Cooking is ONLY allowed in the floor common rooms, and is strictly prohibited in all other places within the Hall, including the ground floor common rooms.
- Fires are not allowed to be set in any part of the Hall.
- General Conduct:
- All forms of smoking and drug abuse are prohibited in all places of the hall. Violations may lead to disciplinary action and law enforcement involvement , if needed.
- Making excessive noise or disturbing residents is prohibited, in-cluding but not limited to quiet hours (from 11:00pm to 7:00am) and/or exam period.
- Playing Mah-Jong during quiet hours (11 pm – 7 am) is not al-lowed, except in the G/F common room. Please observe Point II — if excessive noise occurs, the activity must stop immediately.
- Gambling/betting in any form is prohibited.
- Keeping pets/animals is prohibited.
- Theft is a criminal offence. Stealing any property (including food/drinks , personal/public items) is prohibited and may involve law enforcement.
- Discriminatory , insulting , or demeaning behaviour is prohibited. Resolve conflicts through mature, rational communica-tion.
- Swapping Rooms:
- Unapproved swapping rooms is not allowed, and it is not al-lowed to let other persons occupy or share their assigned rooms.
- Hall Activities:
- All Hall activities must be proposed by submitting a written pro-posal, be discussed by HMT prior to carrying out the activities.
- Approval from RM or HMT is required before organizing any ac-tivities or issuing any publications in the name of the hall, failing which both the organizers and participants may be subject to hall disciplinary enquiries.
- All approved activities will be Hall activities and be organized by organizers approved by RM or HMT.
- Activities other than approved activities are deemed non-official and private to residents; any utilisation of the Hall name or the University name and/or its logos for recruitment or promotion without approval from the HMT, RM, or the University is strictly prohibited, and violations thereof shall subject the offender(s) to disciplinary measures under hall jurisdiction.
- Approved activities can be promoted to residents via a mass email from the HMT, hall posters or announcements, and through the listed official hall social media platforms:
Instagram: @cityuhall2 - All social media accounts not specified in Article V. are deemed private media accounts. Unauthorised usage of hall names, the University name, and its logos on these platforms without ap-proval from the HMT, RM, or the University is forbidden in ac-cordance with Article IV.
- In the event of misuse of these non-official accounts contrary to Article VI. , the Hall shall not be held responsible. Account ad-ministrators are solely liable for any copyright infringements and ensuing legal consequences.
- All posters or announcements affixed within hall premises shall bear the official seals of either RM or SRO. Any publications de-void of said seals shall be construed as unauthorised and shall be summarily removed from hall boards or any hall-designated areas forthwith and without prior notice. The party responsible for such unauthorised postings may be rendered liable to hall disciplinary enquiries.
- Any official Hall souvenirs bearing the Hall's name, its official logo, the University name, or its logo necessitate prior authorisation from the RM, the HMT, or the University before distribution. Breaches of this provision may invoke hall disciplinary enquiries.
- Help & Emergency:
- For general assistance , contact your floor's Residence Tutor.
- Report emergencies immediately to security guards at the securi-ty counter/guard room.
Violation of these Regulations may render a resident liable to disciplinary procedures promulgated by the University. Disciplinary action will include warning (verbal and/or written which will be forwarded to concerned offices and academic Department), community services to Hall, termination of housing contract, etc.
We shall update and/or amend the rules from time to time to maintain our Hall as a good place for study and living. Please contact your residence tutors and/or floor representative if you have any feedback on these rules. You can also forward your comment to the relevant forums.
