Dr Kehinde OLAOYE joined CityU School of Law as a post-doctoral researcher in 2020 as a team member on the RGC project – “Anatomy of Hong Kong’s International Trade Law: Logic and Consequences of Unilateralism, Bilateralism, and Multilateralism. She is the course leader for commercial contracts and transnational law in the International Economic Law and Master of Laws in Arbitration and Dispute Resolution streams. Prior to joining CityU, Dr Olaoye completed degrees in law at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, King’s College London and the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Dr Olaoye is qualified as a solicitor and advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. She has worked as a commercial lawyer in Nigeria and as an international arbitration/dispute resolution trainee in the Hong Kong office of a top international law firm. Dr Olaoye is the Associate Editor of the Asian Pacific Law Review.
Dr Olaoye’s main areas of research are international investment law, international trade law and transnational law. Her research has focused on the distinct trends of foreign investment protection law in developing countries, state contracts and transnational economic law problems. Dr Olaoye’s work has been accepted for publication in leading journals including the Journal of International Economic Law, World Trade Review and the Capital Markets Law Journal. She has also served as a legal expert to the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) on a Common Investment Area in the African Continental Free Trade Area. Dr Olaoye has been invited to give guest lectures and presentations at the University of Leiden (Netherlands), Handong Global University (South Korea) and the European University Institute (Italy).
