Professor Chak K Chan, Dean of the School of Energy and Environment, gave a plenary talk on “Gas-Particle Interactions: Hygroscopic Properties, Phase Transformation and Heterogeneous Reactions of Atmospheric Aerosols” in the 15th International Conference on Atmospheric Sciences and Application to Air Quality (ASAAQ) in Kuala Lumpur on October 28, 2019.
This year’s Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to John Goodenough, Stanley Whittingham and Akira Yoshino, three scientists working in the field of lithium-ion batteries.

The greenhouse gas emissions have been rising continuously in Hong Kong since 2000, amounting to over 40 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent in 2012. Hong Kong’s response to the 2015 Paris Agreement is to achieve a reduction in carbon intensity by 50 to 60 percent by 2020 relative to the 2005 level.
Our School of Energy and Environment’s Dr. Yun Hau Ng has recently won the APEC Science Prize for Innovation, Research and Education (“ASPIRE”) Prize 2019 on his Clean Energy Research.
