Joining us were the shortlisted teams from Canadian International School of Hong Kong, Diocesan Boys’ School, Hong Kong International School, Maryknoll Convent School (Secondary Section), St. Paul's School (Lam Tin), Stamford American School Hong Kong and West Island School.

The School of Energy and Environment (SEE) is thrilled to announce the recipients of the “VTech Innovation & Sustainability Award”.   This Award is made possible by a generous donation from the VTech Group of Companies (VTech) and is intended to recognize outstanding students who have demonstrated exceptional performance, innovation, and impact in their Final Year Project (FYP) related to sustainability.  We congratulate the following students on their remarkable achievement.

Co-founders of i2Cool Limited, Dr. Edwin Tso (Assistant Professor) and PhD alumnus, Dr. Martin Zhu, have been awarded the Gold Prize in the TERA-Award Smart Energy Innovation Competition. This prestigious award recognizes their revolutionary Electricity-free cooling technology, for which they would receive USD$1 million as the winners.

Congratulations to Mr. Choi Man Ho Ivan, a final-year BEng Environmental Science and Engineering student of School of Energy and Environment (SEE), for receiving the Gold Award in the “Ecological Conservation and Sustainable Development” category of the 13th Challenge Cup Chinese University Student Entrepreneurship Competition with his project “Electricity-free Cooling Technology”.

The “SEE Homecoming – Mix and Mingle” was successfully held on 12 March 2023. The homecoming event provided an opportunity for our graduates, faculty members and students to get together to network and develop partnerships. Special thanks must go to our alumni, student and faculty representatives who shared their recent career updates, SEE stories and School development with us. Emaar, one of the world's largest real estate developers, wanted to collaborate with startups to address environmental challenges in the real estate and construction industries. The Emaar Innovation Challenge received over 240 applications from 43 regions and countries.

Under the supervision of Professor Michael Leung, Miss Felice Adeline Yau, a recent graduate of BEng Environmental Science and Engineering (EVE) won the Championship in the 2021-2022 Best Final-Year Environmental Project (Individual Project) Competition, organized by the Environmental Division of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) with her final-year project titled “Hydrogen Production of Pt-TiO2 Nanotubes from Butyric Acid Photoreforming”.

A group of SEE undergraduate students visited Schneider Electric to attend a career talk and look into the Innovation Hub. Thanks for the guidance and advice from Ir Ian Lee (Solution Director) and Mr. Adrian Ho (Engineering Trainee) through the visit, our students all had a wonderful experience. They are now having a better understanding on EcoStruxure Building Advisor & Building Operation, EAOA (AR glasses) Demo, etc. We look forward to collaborating with Schneider Electric on more career development initiatives.
