Under the supervision of Prof. Edwin TSO, two talented alumni of the School of Energy and Environment (SEE) at the City University of Hong Kong (CityU) have been awarded for their distinguished achievement. Mr. Choi Man Ho and Mr. Cheung Tim Yiu have won the Gold Award with the Electricity-free Cooling Technology of i2Cool Limited, a technology startup incubated by CityU HK Tech 300, at the 3rd Asia Exhibition of Innovations and Inventions Hong Kong (AEII) by the Hong Kong Exporters’ Association (HKEA).

On 8 and 10 November 2023, the School of Energy and Environment (SEE) Student Chapter, led by Prof. Edwin TSO, organized a visit to O·PARK1. The engineers at O·PARK1 provided us with an insightful introduction to the advanced techniques employed in the recovery process of organic resources. This visit allowed students to witness firsthand the practical implementation of the Hong Kong government’s sustainable waste management and recycling initiatives.

Congratulations to Mr. Zihao QIN, PhD student of Prof. Carol LIN, Associate Professor, School of Energy and Environment (SEE), for receiving the Best Oral Presentation Award in the 8th International Conference on Biomass Energy 2023 with his presentation titled “Economic analysis and environmental assessment of an integrated food waste biorefinery for the co-production of bio-based rigid polyurethane foam and other value-added products”.

Congratulations to Mr. Zhixiong DING, PhD student of Prof. Wei WU, Associate Professor, School of Energy and Environment (SEE), for receiving the Distinguished PhD Student Award under the Excellent Young Researcher Award category of Energy and Built Environment at the third International Chinese Conference on Energy and Built Environment. Zhixiong’s research focuses on absorption-based thermochemical energy storage.
