We are thrilled to share that PoWater team, led by Ph.D. candidates Haosheng LIN from Professor Wei WU's team and Xinya HAO from Professor Lin ZHANG's team, has secured the first prize in Northeast Asia and the global third prize in the ISETS-UNESCAP Energy Transition Youth Voices Competition.

Under the supervision of Prof. Carol Lin, a postgraduate student at the School of Energy and Environment (SEE), Mr. Zihao Qin, won the Student Best Poster Award in the Global Chinese Environmental Protection Conference 2024 (GCEPC 2024; 2024全球華人環境保護研討會), which was organized by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.  The conference took place at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University on 24 to 27 May, 2024.  The theme of GCEPC 2024 is Sustainable Ecological and Environment Development toward Carbon Neutrality (朝向碳中和的可持續生態與環境發展).

Under the supervision of Prof. WU Wei, PhD students from the School of Energy and Environment, SUI Zengguang and his team (LI Fuxiang, LIN Haosheng, and ZENG Weitao), won the First Prize in the 7th China HVACR Innovation Award held on 8 and 9 Aug 2024.

In the summer of 2024, students from the School of Energy and Environment (SEE), City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) participated in an enriching academic exchange program at Jilin University. The program, led by Prof. Xiaoqiang Cui from Jilin University (JLU) and Prof. Sai Kishore Ravi from CityUHK, focused on catalysis and solar-to-chemical energy conversion. Participants attended a series of workshops and lectures, offering deep dives into the latest research and developments in these fields.

In the summer term of 2024, Prof. Sai Kishore Ravi led two field trips for postgraduate students from the School of Energy and Environment (SEE), themed on the Water-Energy Nexus. These trips offered students a chance to explore key operations in Hong Kong’s water sector and understand their energy demands. The students visited the Tseung Kwan O Desalination Plant and the Sha Tin Water Treatment Plant, where they observed advanced technologies in action.

On 12 July 2024, six undergraduate students from the School of Energy and Environment (SEE) were recognized as recipients of the HK Electric Scholarships for Exemplary SEE Attributes 2023/24. The prestigious scholarship presentation ceremony was held at the HK Electric Centre in Mid-Levels. The event was attended by the following SEE students: ALI Hassan, CHAN Ho Chun, CHOW Hoi Yan, HU Jiuniu, LAN Qingyang and WANG Yan Yan.

Under the supervision of Prof. Edwin Tso, an undergraduate student at the School of Energy and Environment (SEE), Miss Lau Cheuk Ying Kathy, won the first runner-up in the “Green Energy Dreams Come True” Competition organized by HK Electric. The competition took place at the Central market on 6 July 2024, with the aim to acknowledge students who demonstrate excellence in the fields of green energy, carbon reduction, sustainability and innovation.

The School of Energy and Environment (SEE), City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) and the School of Sustainability, Arizona State University (ASU) have successfully concluded the highly anticipated 2024 CityUHK-ASU Summer Program on Urban Sustainability, which brought together students, faculty, and industry experts from Hong Kong and the USA to address pressing issues in urban sustainability and resilience.

On 10 May 2024, the outstanding undergraduate students of the School of Energy and Environment (SEE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) were awarded the “Great Eagle Group Scholarship” at the Great Eagle Scholarship Presentation Ceremony. The ceremony was held at the Great Eagle Centre and was attended by Prof. Kenneth Leung, Dean of the SEE, Prof. Patrick Sit, Associate Dean, and Mr. Andrew To, Associate Director of the Development Office.
