A student from the School of Energy and Environment (SEE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) has been selected as one of the winners of the Final Year Project – Impact Creator Award under the Learning: Experience, Achieve, and Develop (LEAD) Scheme. The winning project, titled “Sustainable Offshore Floating Platform for Synergetic Energy-Water-Food Nexus”, captivated the judges with its groundbreaking integration of engineering and sustainability to tackle pressing challenges in energy, water, and food security.

We are proud to announce that Ms. Zixuan Wu, a PhD student at the School of Energy and Environment (SEE), City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), under the supervision of Prof. Patrick Sit, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Studies) of SEE, has been successfully admitted to the prestigious Future Global Leader Programme (FGLP) 2025–26. Jointly organized by Lucy Cavendish College, University of Cambridge, and CityUHK, FGLP is a transformative initiative designed to equip participants with essential environmental, social, and governance (ESG) skills and a global leadership mindset to drive positive change. The programme includes a blend of online and in-person activities, beginning with a 12-day residency at Lucy Cavendish College, University of Cambridge in September 2025 and culminating in a 10-day local initiative at CityUHK in July 2026.

A group of students from the School of Energy and Environment (SEE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) recently brought theory into action by conducting evidence-based research in Lai Chi Wo, a historic rural village in Hong Kong’s northeastern New Territories. As part of the SEE3001 (Energy and Environmental Policy) course, students formed five task forces to explore key sustainability challenges facing the village.

Since 2018, the School of Energy and Environment (SEE) at CityUHK has partnered with CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) to provide undergraduate students with practical training in energy audits. Now in its seventh year, this longstanding collaboration continues to deliver valuable hands-on experience in energy engineering.

Our Dean, Professor Kenneth Leung, JP, along with Professor Fatwa Abdi, Professor Theodora Nah, and Professor Edwin Tso, visited three top universities in Indonesia from 18 to 22 February 2025. The purpose of the visit was to recruit top students for our PhD programme through the Diversity/Fast Track Programme of the Chow Yei Ching School of Graduate Studies (SGS).

Under the supervision of Prof. WU Wei, postdoc Dr. DING Zhixiong and PhD student Mr. LI Fuxiang from the School of Energy and Environment won the Best Oral Presentation Award at the 2nd International Conference on Energy Engineering (ICEE 2024), held from 29 Nov to 02 Dec 2024. Dr. DING Zhixiong’s presentation was entitled “A Novel Two-stage Energy Storage Heat Transformer with Low Charging Temperature for High-Temperature Lift.” Mr.
