The SEE Alumni Association organised two visits to an organic farm ran by Towngas in September 2021. Led by Dr. Denis Yu and Dr. Henry He, 40 MSc students and alumni joined the visits. The groups learnt new approaches and technologies regarding organic farming.
After winning the championship in SME Innovation and Entrepreneurship Global Contest, Mr. Zhu Yihao, Martin (PhD student), Mr. Lin Kaixin, Johnny (PhD student), Miss Shirley Du (PhD student) and Dr.
Dr. Edwin Tso and his research team (PhD students: Mr. Stanley Liu, Miss. Shirley Du, and Mr. Martin Zhu; Postdoc fellow: Dr. William Lee) recently participated in the 2021 International Invention Innovation Competition in Canada (iCAN 2021) with their invention “An Intelligent and Thermally-responsive Window (ITRW) for Indoor Thermal Management and Energy-saving in Buildings”. The team won the Gold Medal, Canadian Special Award, and Best Invention Video Award in this fierce competition.
Miss Natalie Law who graduated from SEE in 2016 shared her career story with SEE students and faculty members at the SEE Dialogue with Professionals held on 20 September 2021. Natalie has over 5 years of work experience in two world-class consultancy firms since her graduation and is now the Railway Systems Engineer of Arup East Asia Region. Through the talk, Natalie encouraged our students to step out of the comfort zone and be open-minded.

The following SEE PhD students and research assistants formed into a team and won the 1st runner up in the PG session in Young Professionals Exhibition & Competition 2021 (https://booth.ietypec.org/).
Following its earlier announcement of the launch of the flagship innovation and entrepreneurship programme “HK Tech 300” with an allocation of HK$500M, CityU held the HK Tech 300 Seed Fund Presentation Ceremony on 29 July 2021, presenting seed funds with the total sum of HK$6.5M. The scheme, which was launched in March, covers fields including information and communications technology, artificial intelligence, biotech and health, education and financial technologies. It is expected to last at least three years and benefit a total of 300 start-up teams.
