Dr. Alicia An’s paper titled “Transforming Ti3C2Tx MXene’s intrinsic hydrophilicity into superhydrophobicity for efficient photothermal membrane desalination” is accepted to Nature Communications (Impact factor: 14.919 and it is in press now (DOI: 10.1038/s41467-022-31028-6). It is being featured as the Editors’ Highlights.
Dr. Chunhua Liu, Associate Professor, recently received funding from the Innovation and Technology Fund (ITF) 2021/22 for his project “Development of a New Integrated Energy Exchanger for Electric Vehicle Charging Station”.

The School of Energy and Environment (SEE) is absolutely delighted to announce that the following students have been chosen as the recipients of the Outstanding Final Year Project Award of the year. The Award is given to students who have achieved exceptional performance in their final year projects in terms of (i) technical or scholarly quality, (ii) originality, creativity, and innovation, and (iii) impact.
Dr. Patrick Sit, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Studies), and Dr. Yun Hau Ng, Associate Professor, are invited by EDUplus.hk to be the guest speakers of a Facebook Live Programme. Through the programme, Dr. Sit and Dr. Ng introduced the information of SEE’s Undergraduate Programmes (Bachelor of Engineering in Energy Science and Engineering, and Bachelor of Engineering in Environmental Science and Engineering), and their insights into carbon neutrality, zero emission and ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance).
During 2021-22, CityU faculty have secured 24 projects with over HK$60 million funding from various schemes of Innovation and Technology Fund (ITF). The number of approved projects and the approved funded amount are among the highest in recent years.
SEE PhD students and a postdoctoral fellow in Dr. Edwin Tso's group (Miss Shirley Du, Mr. Stanley Liu, and Dr. Peter Pan), recently took part in the Climate Action Recognition Scheme 2021-22 and won the Climate Action Ideation Award. This is their second consecutive victory in CARS idea-stage programme.
