We are thrilled to announce that two esteemed SEE faculty members have been awarded the “RGC Senior Research Fellow” and “RGC Research Fellow” respectively in the Senior Research Fellow Scheme (SRFS) and Research Fellow Scheme (RFS) (2024/25) established by the Research Grant Council (RGC).
On 12 July 2024, six undergraduate students from the School of Energy and Environment (SEE) were recognized as recipients of the HK Electric Scholarships for Exemplary SEE Attributes 2023/24. The prestigious scholarship presentation ceremony was held at the HK Electric Centre in Mid-Levels.
The event was attended by the following SEE students: ALI Hassan, CHAN Ho Chun, CHOW Hoi Yan, HU Jiuniu, LAN Qingyang and WANG Yan Yan.
Under the supervision of Prof. Edwin Tso, an undergraduate student at the School of Energy and Environment (SEE), Miss Lau Cheuk Ying Kathy, won the first runner-up in the “Green Energy Dreams Come True” Competition organized by HK Electric. The competition took place at the Central market on 6 July 2024, with the aim to acknowledge students who demonstrate excellence in the fields of green energy, carbon reduction, sustainability and innovation.
A project proposal by Prof. Jin-Soo Kim and his colleagues is granted for the Collaborative Regional Research Programme under the Asia-Pacific Network (APN) for Global Change Research. Abdi’s groundbreaking research paper titled “Assessing elevated pressure impact on photoelectrochemical water splitting via multiphysics modeling” has been published in Nature Communications. The study explores the impact of elevated pressure on the efficiency of photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting, offering new insights for sustainable energy production.
Prof. Wang Xue has published a groundbreaking research paper titled “Efficient CO and Acrolein Co-production via Paired Electrolysis” in Nature Sustainability. Her study introduces an innovative approach to sustainable chemistry.
The Hong Kong government is actively promoting the construction of waste-to-energy facilities to address the issue of landfill overcrowding. One such facility is I·PARK1, which is currently being built and will be able to process 3,000 tons of municipal solid waste per day. Another facility, I·PARK2, is also under development and is expected to handle approximately 6,000 tons of waste daily. Prof.

This event served as the crowning achievement for graduates hailing from diverse programmes within SEE, signifying the culmination of their extraordinary academic odyssey.
