The School of Energy and Environment (SEE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) is pleased to announce that Professor Kenneth Leung, our esteemed Dean, has been reappointed as the Chairperson of the Lantau Conservation Fund Advisory Committee (LCFAC) for the term from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2026. The LCFAC, established in October 2020, holds a critical role in advising on the administration and operation of the Lantau Conservation Fund (LCF). The committee's responsibilities include vetting applications and monitoring funded projects.

The School of Energy and Environment (SEE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) is proud to announce that Prof. Wen-Xiong Wang has been appointed as the Chairman of the Expert Committee on Food Safety, effective 15 September 2024. In this key role, Professor Wang will lead the committee in advising the Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene (DFEH) on critical matters related to food safety.

According to metrics compiled by Stanford University and the updated data published on 16 September 2024, twenty faculty members of the School of Energy and Environment (SEE) are listed among the top 2% of the world’s most highly cited scientists (i.e., top 2% in the world in their own areas of specialty), that equates to nearly 60% of the School’s entire faculty body. This exciting news reflects our faculty’s high academic standards and excellent research performance. This year’s 20 top 2% scientists from SEE are, in alphabetical order, Prof. Fatwa F.

Congratulations to Associate Professor Jin Shang of the School of Energy and Environment (SEE) for receiving the prestigious “IACC-SMS Carbon Capture Award for Exceptional Research” at the International Association for Carbon Capture Conference 2024 (IACC2024), held at the University of Surrey, UK. This award honors his outstanding contributions to carbon capture research.

Under the supervision of Prof. Carol Lin, a postgraduate student at the School of Energy and Environment (SEE), Mr. Zihao Qin, won the Student Best Poster Award in the Global Chinese Environmental Protection Conference 2024 (GCEPC 2024; 2024全球華人環境保護研討會), which was organized by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.  The conference took place at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University on 24 to 27 May, 2024.  The theme of GCEPC 2024 is Sustainable Ecological and Environment Development toward Carbon Neutrality (朝向碳中和的可持續生態與環境發展).
