The School of Energy and Environment (SEE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) successfully hosted the SEE-CityUHK Summer Research Program in July 2025, welcoming 9 visiting students from leading institutions in India including IISc Bengaluru, IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, IIT Gandhinagar, IISER Bhopal, and NIT Calicut.

Associate Professor Jason Lam from the School of Energy and Environment (SEE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) has recently published a research paper in the RSC’s flagship journal Energy & Environmental Science (IF: 30.8). Titled "Low-Temperature Highly Selective Kolbe Electrolysis of Acetic Acid in Bio-Oil on a Stable in Situ Grown RuO₂/TiO₂ at Industrial-Level Current", the paper features Dr. Jin Yangxin, a postdoctoral fellow in Prof. Lam's group, as the first author, with Prof. Lam as the corresponding author.

The School of Energy and Environment (SEE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) is proud to announce that ten of its faculty members have successfully secured funding from the Research Grants Council (RGC) under the General Research Fund (GRF) for the 2025/26 exercise. The awarded projects have collectively received over HK$9 million in funding, supporting a diverse range of impactful research initiatives in energy, environment, and sustainability.

We are proud to share that our former Dean, Professor Kenneth Leung, JP, has been awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star (BBS) by the Hong Kong SAR Government in recognition of his outstanding service to the community over many years, particularly in the areas of environmental protection, food safety, and environmental hygiene. The announcement was made on 1 July 2025 as part of the HKSAR Government’s annual Honours List. The award ceremony will be held at Government House in October 2025.

A student from the School of Energy and Environment (SEE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) has been selected as one of the winners of the Final Year Project – Impact Creator Award under the Learning: Experience, Achieve, and Develop (LEAD) Scheme. The winning project, titled “Sustainable Offshore Floating Platform for Synergetic Energy-Water-Food Nexus”, captivated the judges with its groundbreaking integration of engineering and sustainability to tackle pressing challenges in energy, water, and food security.

At the 8th China (Shanghai) International Invention and Innovation Exhibition, which concluded on 13 June 2025, three postdoctoral researchers from the team of Prof. Wu Wei, Associate Professor at the School of Energy and Environment (SEE), City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), presented their latest inventions: “High-Density Carnot Battery for Long-Duration Energy Storage,” “Sweating-Inspired Heat Sink for Zero-Energy Thermal Management,” and “Double-Stage Absorption Thermal Battery,” respectively.
