Assistant Professor Jason Lam from the School of Energy and Environment (SEE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) has recently published a research paper in Angewandte Chemie International Edition, titled "In-tandem Electrochemical Reduction of Nitrate to Ammonia on Ultrathin-Sheet-Assembled Iron–Nickel Alloy Nanoflowers". Dr. Kartick Chandra Majhi, a postdoctoral fellow in Prof. Lam's group, served as the first author, while Prof. Lam was the corresponding author. Assistant Professor Xi Chen from the School of Energy and Environment, City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), recently co-authored a research article published in Nature Communications titled “Life cycle comparison of industrial-scale lithium-ion battery recycling and mining supply chains.” Professor Chen served as both a co-corresponding author and co-first author in collaboration with Professor William A. Tarpeh from Stanford University.
Prof. Xuan Wang has successfully published his research paper, titled “Dark Brown Carbon from Biomass Burning Contributes to Significant Global-Scale Positive Forcing” in One Earth. This study represents a significant achievement in climate science, shedding light on the substantial warming impact of dark brown carbon, a factor not previously considered in current climate assessments.

Prof. Fatwa F. Abdi, an Associate Professor from SEE, has been awarded a 3-year research grant from the French National Research Agency (ANR) / Research Grants Council (RGC) Joint Research Scheme, with a total funding amount of HKD 1.7 million. In the current 2024/25 exercise, Prof. Abdi is the only recipient from CityUHK to receive the ANR/RGC Joint Research Scheme Grant.
