Congratulations to Dr. Edwin Tso, Assistant Professor of the School of Energy and Environment (SEE), who has been conferred the CityU Outstanding Research Award for 2022 in the Junior Faculty category in recognition of his outstanding research, development, and knowledge transfer achievements.

CityU Named Professorship Scheme
Under the Named Chair Professorship Scheme of City University of Hong Kong (CityU), two faculty members of the School of Energy and Environment (SEE) have been named with endowed professors. They are Professor Wang Wenxiong, TUYF Chair Professorship in Oceanography, and Professor Michael Leung Kwok-hi, Shun Hing Education and Charity Fund Professorship in Energy and Environment.

The School of Energy and Environment (SEE), in collaboration with the CFA Institute, hosted an Alumni Event titled “Careers in ESG for Engineers” on 6 October 2022 to introduce the career opportunity in ESG and sustainability to SEE alumni.

Miss Yuwei Du, Dr. Sai Liu and Dr. Aiqiang Pan in Dr. Edwin Tso's research group were awarded as the Idea-Stage Startup Winner in Climate Action Recognition Scheme 2021-22. The Award Ceremony organized by Hong Kong SDG Hub was held on 24 September 2022.

Dr. Sam Hsu’s paper titled “Bandgap Funneling in Bismuth-Based Hybrid Perovskite photocatalyst with efficient Visible-Light-Driven Hydrogen Evolution” has been published (IF: 15.367; DOI: 10.1002/smtd.202200326) and featured as the back cover in Small Methods.

The School of Energy and Environment (SEE) and the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 31 August 2022 to jointly promote innovation and technology (I&T) and nurture InnoTalent of the future.

In collaboration with Hong Kong Green Building Council and Hang Lung Properties, SEE Student Chapter organized a visiting tour to Amoy Plaza and Gala Place on 16 August 2022. The visit aims to broaden students' understanding of retro-commissioning (RCx) and pressure-independent control valve (PICV) systems.

Dr. Edwin Tso delivered a lecture entitled “Next Generation of Green Building Technologies: Passive Radiative Cooling & Thermochromic Smart Windows” for the “Science in the Public Service” 2022 Forum and Lecture Series on 13 August 2022 at the Hong Kong Science Museum.

Mr. Chong Man Hin, recent BEngESE graduate, won the 2nd Runner-up (Individual Project) of 2021/2022 Best Final Year Environmental Project Award hosted by Environmental Division, HKIE. The award-winning project is titled “Bio-photoelectrochemical Hybrid Devices for Simultaneous Wastewater Treatment and Solar-fuel Generation”.
