In the latest 2025/26 grants from the Research Grants Council (RGC), City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) has been awarded five Collaborative Research Fund (CRF) and Young Collaborative Research Fund (YCRF) projects. The School of Energy and Environment (SEE) is proud to share that two of these distinguished grants have been awarded to our faculty members, highlighting the School’s strong research performance and impact.

Prof. Zhiguo Yuan AM has secured a CRF project titled “Waste-derived iron salts enable integrated and sustainable urban wastewater management” in collaboration with faculty members from PolyU, HKUST, and HKU. This project has been awarded funding of HK$5.9 million.

Prof. Jung Eun Chu has been awarded a YCRF project titled “Nearshore intensification and inland impact of the tropical cyclones in the Western North Pacific under global warming” in collaboration with faculty members from CUHK and PolyU. This project has received HK$4.3 million in funding, an especially significant achievement for a young faculty member.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Yuan and Prof. Chu for their outstanding accomplishments. Their achievements bring pride to SEE and reinforce the School’s vital role in advancing impactful research for Hong Kong and beyond.
