Prof. Lin Zhang Appointed to Prestigious Research Assessment Exercise 2026 Panel

The School of Energy and Environment (SEE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) is proud to announce that Professor Lin Zhang has been appointed as a member of the Business & Economics Panel for the upcoming Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2026. This prestigious appointment highlights Prof. Zhang’s international reputation and scholarly excellence in energy economics and sustainability governance.
Led by the University Grants Committee (UGC), the RAE is an internationally recognized, expert-driven review that evaluates research outputs, societal impact, and research environments across Hong Kong’s eight publicly funded universities. As a distinguished scholar in energy economics and sustainability governance, Prof. Zhang joins an elite group of experts tasked with conducting these assessments, which will inform future funding allocations, strategic policy directions, and benchmarking against global standards.
Prof. Zhang’s research integrates economic and interdisciplinary approaches to sustainable development, with focus on energy policy, climate economics, and governance. He serves as a Council Member of the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE) and is an editor of The Energy Journal. Prof. Zhang has been recognized as one of Stanford University’s “Top 2% Scientists”, and in 2024, he was selected as one of 18 SUSI Scholars globally, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State.
His recent book, Sustainability Economics, published by Springer Nature, reflects his vision for advancing both theory and practice in the field of sustainability.
