Richard Shah is a Supervisor (Communication Coaching) and Deputy Programme Leader for the Master of Public Health (MPH) programme at the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences, City University of Hong Kong. With over a decade of experience spanning corporate training, higher education, and health professions pedagogy, Richard brings a distinctive interdisciplinary lens to his work—synthesising business strategy, human factors, and communication sciences to advance student learning and professional development.

As Course Leader for several core MPH offerings, including Communication Skills & Conference Organization and Practicum, Richard designs and delivers curricula that bridge theory and practice. He also teaches Communication and Non-Technical Skills within the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) programme, where he integrates personality-based communication frameworks and DEI principles into the professional formation of future veterinarians. Richard's pedagogical approach is grounded in the study of personality-based communication, decision-making, and behavioural patterns.

A recognised advocate for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Richard has led numerous DEI initiatives and convened external seminars with leading international experts. His professional credentials include certifications in Neurodiversity for Veterinary Leaders (The Vet Project, UK), MBTI® (Australia), and VetTEAMS™ Master Trainer (USA)—certifications that underscore his commitment to evidence-based, human-centred approaches to education and team development.

Committed to fostering global perspectives, Richard is leading the development of a transformative international placement course, offering MPH students immersive experiential learning across the globe —a pioneering initiative that significantly expands the programme's global footprint and enriches the student experience.

In addition to his ongoing doctoral studies in public health, Richard holds an MBA from City University of Hong Kong and has completed postgraduate executive education programmes at the University of California, Berkeley (Entrepreneurship & Venture Development) and Imperial College London (Global Brand Management)—reflecting a sustained commitment to scholarly growth and global engagement.

Richard's expertise is widely sought beyond the university; he has delivered lectures and keynote addresses at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and the University of South Australia (offshore), sharing insights on communication efficacy, human factors, and professional development with diverse academic and professional audiences.
