This course introduces the concepts and basic techniques of the various disciplines in forensic sciences to students. These include: basic crime scene investigation techniques; fingerprint analysis; bloodstain analysis; dangerous and controlled drugs; knowledge of firearms, explosives and bombs; tool-marks analysis, forensic hand-writing analysis, forensic pathology, forensic anthropology, etc. Formal lectures are supplemented by invited expert talks, interactive tutorials and mock crime scene investigation exercises. These activities aim to allow students to learn, and discover by themselves, specific skills in crime investigations, and to put them into practical uses.
