This course aims to enhance students’ knowledge of the basic elements of literary studies. It enables students to comprehend the theories, concepts, and methods necessary to analyse and appreciate a range of English literature that is relevant in our lives. Students learn how to apply their general and world knowledge to critical reflection on various literary themes by writing literacy critiques and engaging in creative writing. In addition, through lecture presentations, readings, classroom activities and coursework, students develop the ability to communicate their ideas about and understanding of English literary texts orally.
