This course will cover the topics of (1) worldwide energy crisis, (2) typical renewable energy systems, including solar energy, wind energy, fuel cells, geothermal energy, and tidal energy, and (3) the application of renewable energy in Hong Kong. It will enable students to understand energy crisis and its social influence on environment and human beings’ life, and acquire knowledge of renewable energy (working principle, advantages/disadvantages, and current applications) through lectures and seminars. Students will also be organized to visit the Lamma wind power station to be familiar with the operation of renewable energy systems.
