Two SEE Students Selected for the Future Global Leader Programme 2026–27 at the University of Cambridge

The School of Energy and Environment (SEE) is delighted to announce that two of its outstanding students, Mr. Chun Lee and Miss Yosepha Krista, have been selected for the highly prestigious Future Global Leader Programme (FGLP) 2026–27.
Jointly organized by Lucy Cavendish College, University of Cambridge, and City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), the highly competitive programme is designed to cultivate future leaders equipped with a global outlook and a strong foundation in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. Through an immersive year-long experience, participants will develop global leadership capabilities and gain interdisciplinary insights to address pressing global challenges. The programme begins with a 12-day academic residency at the University of Cambridge in September 2026 and culminates in a 10-day local initiative at CityUHK in July 2027.
Turning Challenges into Opportunities: Chun Lee’s Story of Resilience
For Chun Lee, earning a place in the FGLP represents a significant milestone in a journey defined by determination and growth. Reflecting on a challenging first year at CityUHK, Chun initially doubted whether he was a suitable candidate for such a prestigious international programme, believing opportunities of this calibre were reserved for students with flawless academic records. His perspective changed after learning that Lucy Cavendish College actively embraces talented students from diverse and non-traditional backgrounds.

"The FGLP looks beyond perfection, it values resilience and a genuine drive to impact the world," Chun shared. "I applied to prove that early academic setbacks do not define your future potential. Receiving the acceptance was a wonderful surprise, and it completely validated all my hard work."
Looking ahead, Chun is eager to engage with peers studying law, business, and public policy at Cambridge to view climate issues through an interdisciplinary lens. His ultimate goal is to work in public policy or environmental law, bridging the gap between technical engineering and real-world implementation. Offering advice to his fellow SEE peers, Chun encourages them to "start applying before you feel ready. You will never have perfect grades or perfect confidence. Waiting for the 'right time' is just another form of self-doubt."
Advancing Sustainability Through Global Collaboration: Yosepha Krista’s Vision
Yosepha Krista was equally thrilled to receive her offer to join the distinguished FGLP cohort. Motivated by a passion for addressing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), she views the programme as a valuable opportunity to collaborate with talented students from around the world and deepen her understanding of sustainability leadership.
"FGLP is a unique opportunity to shape our mindset, including thinking globally, acting sustainably, and always valuing curiosity." Krista is particularly excited about the interdisciplinary synergy the FGLP provides, looking forward to collaborating with students from technology, governance, and social sciences. She plans to leverage the ESG framework to evaluate engineering and energy innovations holistically, measuring not just their technical viability, but their broader social and governance impacts. Her career goal is to contribute to regional decarbonization and align standard engineering practices firmly with global sustainability goals.
