SEE Launches Academic Year 2026 with Vibrant Undergraduate Orientation Day
The School of Energy and Environment (SEE) hosted its Undergraduate Student Orientation Day on 24 August 2026, warmly welcoming the newest cohort of students to join the SEE family.
The event featured an opening address by Prof. Benjamin Horton, Dean of SEE, who expressed his delight in greeting and welcoming the incoming students as they begin their university journey. Prof. Shauhrat Chopra, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Studies), briefed students on the undergraduate curriculum, co-curricular opportunities, and international exchange pathways. The orientation also featured a Dean's List presentation celebrating outstanding academic achievements, while senior students Miss Yosepha Krista and Miss Wendy Leung shared personal perspectives on navigating university life.
To familiarize new students with essential university resources, administrative representatives delivered tailored briefings. Miss Violet Chan from the Global Engagement Office (GEO) introduced overseas exchange opportunities, while Ms. Joey Law and Ms. Lamon Lau from Student Development Services (SDS) presented counseling and career development guidance. Additionally, Ms. Kay Wu shared information on language enhancement learning support available at the Chan Feng Men-ling Chan Shuk-lin Language Centre.
The orientation also marked the official announcement of the 2026/27 SEE Student Chapter Executive Committee. Miss Li Wing Sze, outgoing Chairperson of the SEE Student Chapter, introduced the new committee members and outlined the student body's structure and upcoming initiatives. Afterward, students broke out into major-specific sessions with Programme Leaders—Prof. Fatwa Abdi (ESE & INSPIRE), Prof. Jason Lam (EVE, EVEFIN & INSPIRE), and Prof. Shauhrat Chopra (ESB). The day concluded with campus networking and a guided tour hosted by student mentors.
SEE once again extends its warmest welcome to all 2026 undergraduate students. The School wishes all new students every success in their studies at CityUHK and hopes they reap rich rewards and unlock their full potential throughout their future academic and personal journey!
