Prof. Jason Lam Selected for the AAEES 2026 “40 Under 40 Recognition Program”

Prof. Jason Chun-Ho Lam, Associate Professor in the School of Energy and Environment (SEE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), has been selected as a recipient of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists (AAEES) 2026 “40 Under 40 Recognition Program.”

The AAEES 40 Under 40 Recognition Program honours outstanding professionals under the age of 40 who have demonstrated significant contributions to advancing the fields of environmental science or environmental science and engineering. Recipients are selected based on their professional accomplishments and commitment to outreach and service activities.

Prof. Lam’s research focuses on electrocatalysis for waste upcycling and environmental applications. His work encompasses the valorization of solid waste streams, including the selective recovery of valuable metals from spent electronic waste and batteries, as well as the conversion of lignin derived from biomass into value-added products. These innovative approaches help reduce the fossil energy intensity associated with conventional resource extraction while promoting sustainable resource recovery and environmental stewardship.

This prestigious recognition highlights Prof. Lam’s outstanding contributions to the development of practical green electrochemical technologies that address pressing environmental challenges and support a more sustainable future.
